Privacy Policy

BettaButler is an independent project built by a single maker. This page explains, in plain English, what data we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

• Your email address — only if you submit it through the waitlist form.
• Signup context — when you join the waitlist, we store your browser’s user-agent string, the referring page (where you came from), and the time of signup. This helps us understand which channels send waitlist sign-ups.
• Anonymous usage analytics — Google Analytics (measurement ID G-SMRVSKB232) records page views, session duration, device type, and approximate location (country/region). We do not link this to your email.

What we don’t collect

• We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, or payment details on this site.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or third parties.
• We do not use trackers across other websites beyond Google Analytics on this domain.

Why we collect it

• To email you once when pre-orders open — that’s the entire purpose of the waitlist.
• Occasional build updates from the maker, no more than monthly. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.
• To improve the site — analytics help us understand which content is useful so we can write less filler and more substance.

Where it’s stored

Waitlist emails are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), a managed database service operated by Google Cloud. Firebase Hosting serves this website. Google Analytics processes the anonymous usage data described above. Google’s privacy practices apply to data while it is in transit and at rest on their infrastructure — see Google’s privacy policy.

How long we keep it

We retain waitlist emails until you ask us to remove them, or until 24 months after the first product launch (whichever comes first). Analytics data is retained for 14 months as part of Google Analytics’ default settings.

Your rights

• Unsubscribe at any time — every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.
• Request deletion of your data — email us at hello@bettabutler.com and we’ll permanently remove your record within 30 days.
• Request a copy of your data — same email; we’ll send you what we have, which is your email address, signup timestamp, and signup context.
• Opt out of Google Analytics — install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or use a tracker-blocking browser extension.

Cookies

The site uses cookies set by Google Analytics (typically _ga and _ga_*) to recognise returning visitors. We do not set any first-party cookies ourselves. If you block cookies, the site works the same way.

Children

BettaButler isn’t directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has shared their email here, contact us at hello@bettabutler.com and we’ll remove the record.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when this policy changes. For material changes (new third parties, new data categories), we’ll email everyone on the waitlist so you can review before the change takes effect.
